Soe Meh’s story

Q: Can you say a little bit about your history? A: I was born in Loikaw Township, in 1989. I grew up in Daw Kraw Aw village. I stayed there until I was 13 years old. After this, I arrived to Karenni Refugee Camp 3 in 2000. I attended middle school there. I stayed with my uncle and my cousin. I didn’t stay with my mother. After a year, my mother came to camp 1 so I moved there and continued my schooling. After I finished high school, I attended the SDC basic course 2009-2010.   Q: How was your experience at SDC School?   A: When I attended SDC School, I was very happy to attend and I was very interested in the subjects. Archived 2012: Celebration of World Environment Day and Fresher Welcome by the SDC

SDC followed a 4 day environmental protection course with World Environment Day celebrations. On 4th June 2012, the community was invited to music, poetry, and art competitions as well as debates, with environmental protection being the central theme.  A ceremony followed in the SDC compound, including a welcoming speech by Aung Sun Myint, coordinator of SDC, and a speech on the history of World Environment Day and the various activities held around the world by Khu Myar Reh, principal of SDC. The ceremony was attended by more than 100 people, including representatives from CBOs, camp leaders, and parents of students. After the ceremony, food and beverages were served to all who attended.  We also welcomed the new students who will be attending in the training course of the 2012-2013. Archived 2011: Graduation ceremony for 2011- 2012

Graduation Ceremony for Students of 2011-2012 On 30th March 2012, a graduation ceremony was held in camp for 28 students who successfully completed the basic 10 month training course, which started in June 2011.  The main subjects of the basic training course included human rights, environmental protection and rule of law.  Certificates were awarded to the graduates, and the Best Student Award for overall excellence in scholarship and social contributions was announced.  Prizes were also awarded for academic achievement in the final exam and also for recognition of social contribution.  The graduation ceremony was attended by over 100 people, who gathered to bear witness to the achievement of the students, including parents of current students and representatives from community based organisations (CBOs), such as Karenni Education Department (KnED), and other education organisations. The attendees of the graduation ceremony were invited to enjoy food and drinks at the SDC compound after the graduation ceremony....
